Computer Building Problem

I am new to building computers, and I am having a problem that I cannot figure out at all. Here are the parts I have:
AMD XP 3200 w/cooling fan
Soyo KT-880 Dragon2 M/B
Seagate 200 GB ATA hard drive
Generic Floppy, CD and DVD Writer
512 MB DDR-DIMM RAM
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB Video Card
480 Watt Demon ATX Switching Power Supply

Now, every part has been verified as working by putting them in different systems except the power supply, and I have built and rebuilt the computer according to a few different instruction sets and I always come upon the same problem. I turn the power on, and the fan starts and it works for about two seconds, and then the whole thing just shuts down. I don't hear any beeping for in the two seconds, and nothing appears on the screen. I've tried clearing the CMOS battery, testing the cpu fan input in different CPUFan locations, and everything else in the back of the M/B manual and it simply doesn't work. If I remove the RAM from the board, the system powers up and stays on, but there is no activity besides the leds lighting up and the fan turning on. I've tried everything I know how to do, and I can't figure it out. Thanks for any suggestions you can give me.

Could be bad ram. You may want to try booting with a memtest86 CD or floppy. It could also be a short on the mobo somewhere, may be touching the case somewhere and shorting the board. Check all the moutning spots and see if they are correctly screwed in.

I suspect the RAM as a possibility too but you wont be able to boot if you cant POST :P

Normally bad ram will still post, if anything find someone with a POST card and have them stick it in a see what code it gives. I bought on on ebay for
25$ and it was the best buy I have ever made.
