Computer buzzing while idle

Hello!

I have a 5 year old computer (yeah, quite old :) )which I have a problem with.

Whenever I load my computer with something a buzzing sound comes from the "dashboard" it's a small buzzer which is annoying as hell. The buzzing first appeared a few years back while playing some videogames. I've paused the game and everything got back to normal.
A few months ago I'd noticed something different - my computer is buzzing while idle - no chore, no computation, no 3d models, nothing - except the normal startup programs (antivirus etc.).

So I have unpluged the buzzer, which solves the problem :D.

So I had pluged the buzzer back and opened a huge .txt file (80 MB)
While watching the resource monitor graph there isn't so much usage about 30% on CPU, about 50% on RAM core temperature average 85°C (185 °F). And it's buzzing non-stop.
It's runing first generation i5, 8 GB of RAM - I'll send more info if needed.

Why is the computer buzzing (when idle)?

Thanks.

The buzzer is most likely the system speaker. I would say you have a wiring issue somewhere or possibly a sound issue. Do you have a dedicated sound card or are you using onboard audio? If you are mechanically inclined then what I would do is tear the computer down and rebuild it from scratch, making sure all connections were good. Have you updated your sound or video drivers?

Well if that's your CPU temp 85c, could have something to do with a warning buzzer.

sheesh, I skipped right over that part about the temp.... Yep, would say your overheating. Check to make sure the heatsink is attached to the processor correctly. Also, how did you apply thermal paste?
