Computer can't find CD-ROM

I recently did some work for a friend and i had to unplug my CD-ROM in order to plug a hard drive in, when i was done i plug my CD-ROM back in exactly how it was before and went into BIOS to make sure it had found it but it has and I have tried different IDE cables and moved the jumper around but none of it seems to work, I don't think it has blown, because there is still power going to it and the tray slides out fine, but the computer just doesn't recognise it!

If anyone has any ideas what is causing this and a possible solution, it would be much appreciated!

Cheers Sam

try going into the device manager uninstalling the cd rom in question restarting the computer and seeing if it comes up then

Did the Bios find the drive, or was it just set to CD? You should get some sort of error in that case, but still worth checking... Can you boot from it?
