Computer "clicks" then usually freezes

Hi I started having this problem where I hear this click in my computer I think it might be the CPU fan stopping? (not other fans) and then restarting. After that happens it either goes back to normal or freezes with black screen or freezes with a bunch of random colored lines all over the screen. It happends more and more often and I already had to reinstall because it corrupted some fies. Now my profile was erased with all my files..
 
Will it click continuously? If so, is there a pattern to it?

A HDD that is about to go will often click. Corrupt files as well as missing profile leads me to believe HDD.
 
Yeah, sounds like your HD is dieing. Make sure if you have any important files you back them up soon.
 
If its freezing with the coloured lines, you try swapping the GFX card if you have one spare or borrow one from another comp, or you could even buy a really cheapo one just to test.
 
Ah its onboard video card from my M2NPV-VM motherboard. IT clicks just once but if it doesnt freeze it can happen again at any time.
