i really like that setup. anyone have any objections or anything they would like to see changed?
Yes, you may as well wait 1 month (approx) for Windows 7 to be released (full release) and then many Vista only computers will probably drop in price significantly from manufacturers who do not want to put Windows 7 on some of their machines.

Can you wait a few weeks?

Why does it matter if manufacturers drop the prices on there vista machines. He is building this computer so it does not matter if they drop there prices it will have no effect on his decision. He is going to be getting a free windows 7 upgrade coupon to use so he will still have windows 7.

This, and the fact that you get Vista OEM plus the Windows 7 upgrade for less money that it costs to buy Windows 7 upgrade by itself. :good:

why not get the processor from micro center? its cheaper.

I would prefer to buy from newegg if the price were the same but not when there is a big price difference.

Then you have to pay for shipping from two sites instead of one.

Best to choose one site or another, regardless of which.

harddrives - anything i should specifically look for? ive seen IDE ultra, SATA, SAS.

Over the past week, I've been researching building a i5 750 build and these parts are very good quality and should be reliable. This is my build list (with help from users at this site and another one and my own knowledge):

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129058

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.259927
http://www.buy.com/prod/asus-vw224u-...211494107.html

total is around $1250 (If you want, you can spend less on a case or as others say, get a less expensive ATI video card)

The mb I picked includes a Linux based instant-on OS called "Winki." Seems pretty cool for turning on the computer and being able to check email within a few seconds.

-The ram you picked seems to be overkill. Vista Ultimate is not worth the extra money(get Home Premium). In a benchmark comparison, the AMD cpu is not as good as an overclocked i5 750.

Not sure I understand the question.

The RAM and graphics card you chose will fit in the build I submitted.

The Motherboard and CPU I submitted are about $369 and will smoke anything AMD. :good:

"An excess of what is necessary or appropriate for a particular end."

Surprised you never heard of overkill before, unless you mean you can never have too much ram. Well, the better ram you chose is bottle-necked by other parts you chose like the cpu.
