computer does nothing after splash screen

just started up my computer and it doesnt seem to do anything after the splash screen. All i get is a black screen and the mouse pointer, but nothing seems to load.

It was working fine yesterday and the only thing i did to it was remove a usb this morning.
Anyone have any ideas whats causing it?

Sounds like you might have errors on the hard drive or its already failed. Disconnect the HDD and see if it continues to boot and gives you an error saying it can't find bootable media.

Thanks, i disconnected the hard drive and it comes up "no bootable media found".

That means there are errors on the drive or its already failed on you. What brand of drive is it? You can try following the instructions on this page to run diagnostics on your drive
