My computer is running slow. I'd like to know what to do. Here is everything I think you need to know.
Operating system: Windows 7 (Enterprise version)
Motherboard: ASUS P5PE-VM https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5PEVM/specification
My motherboard has two one gigabyte sticks of RAM installed. Thats the most it can have.
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce_7600.html
Hard drive: 232 gigabytes, 165 gigabytes used (photos mostly)
I don't know much much about computers, so I'd like an explanation of my hardware and the problems.

Hello,

The platform you're using is about 10 years old, so that should really speak for itself. What CPU do you have in it?

The main limiting factor for general use is going to be your RAM, when that becomes exhausted (which 2 GB becomes exhausted very quickly), the OS will swap data to the hard drive which really kills any sort of performance when you go to pull other data off of the drive such as load a program.

As beers has said, your ram is the issue here. You could get by running XP on 2gb of ram but not Vista or higher and having decent performance. These days you need anywhere from 4 to 8 gb of memory to run the OS and application efficiently. If the speed was somewhat ok before and now its slower then its most likely either malware related or something else such as too many programs loading at bootup.

Where I got my computer RAM limit was Crucial.com. The biggest RAM sticks they had compatible with my computer where one gigabyte, and my computer only has two RAM slots. Is there any other compatible RAM? If not should I get an SSD or a new motherboard?

I would also recommend a virus and spyware scan. These things can slow a computer down. There are 2GB sticks that would work however your motherboard might not register it. So yeah it's time for a new computer. You could get away with the video card in a new computer if you're not really into gaming, but if you want to play games that are even remotely new you would need a new video card also. The only old video card that is reasonably good these days is the 8800 GTX or newer of course.

Thanks. I will get a new computer soon. Until then, would an SSD give my computer a bit more speed? Using an SSD for RAM is better then using an HDD for RAM right?

I would only buy something for your existing computer you can move to a new system. Which would only be a SSD. Your board only has a AGP port, it would be pointless even getting a video card.
