Hi, firstly i dont know if this is the right place to post this but i am getting really frustrated and don't knw what to do
ok, when i start my computer it comes up with the picture and a thing saying to press [tab] for post screen and [del] for setup. it then enters the post screen and after doing the memory test thing and initiallizing this virus thing next it says detecting primary master ... none
detecting primary slave ... maxter 6L12OPO
detecting secondry master ... Sony DVD RW DRU-510A
detecting secondry slave ... PHILIPS PCRW5232F

then it freezes with just a blinking cursor. Also if i do not have a keyboard connected it says this below that but when i connect one and press f1 to continue like it tells me this message disappears and leaves the above detecting things followed by the blinking cursor.

Please PLEASE help as i don't know whats wrong with my computer .

Thanks, Sam

Assuming the Maxtor and Philips are both hard drives, it's possible that the BIOS is not trying to boot off either drive because it's set that way, or it's trying to boot from a drive that does not have an Operating System installed on it, and not attempting the second drive.

You may want to look at the Boot Priority or Boot Order in the BIOS (by pressing DEL) -- Don't change anything that you don't know what it does, or the problem could be made worse.

First, Welcome to Computer Forum! Remember to read the Forum Rules! If your Primary drive is failing, that could be a cause, or you set Primary master as NONE. When you say it freezes, and say it still blinks, that points out that the computer is trying to boot from the main hdd, and since there is none, its still trying to detect. Make sure you set your jumpers right and what there are no loose cables.

Thanks

thanks for the help i had a look elsewhere and found it might have something to do with the power cable. I swapped the cables for my pc and monitor and it worked instantly. I am sure I had connected it properly as I had tried un plugging and re plugging it multiple times but this seemed to work but thanks for your concern with my problem
