Computer Freezing "Games"

Currently having some issues with my computer just recently started and just trying to pin point the exact issue here.

Was working just fine up untill recently, it just randomly will freeze up during playing games "online/offline" so it is not an issue with the internet connection.
I am thinking on just building a new computer as thats problably the best option but if anyone thinks they know whats going on it would be greatly appreciated.

Also obviously I am not playing any graphics intensive games so that can be ruled out as well.

2.8 Ghz P4
1.5 gb ram 400mhz corsair
ATI radeon x700 256mb
Standard Agp Dell Mobo
WD 150gb hard drive

well that is a dated system, an upgrade might be wanted no matter, but first thing to do would be defragler, ccleaner, and a quick virus and malware scan.
