Computer freezing intermittently at friend's house

Hi,

So when I haul my desktop over to my friend's house and power it up, it freezes intermittently while I'm doing things. It happens every 5 seconds about, and lasts for about half a second. So for example, I could move my cursor and it will go ehhg, then start moving again.

It works fine at home so I'm suspecting there's a power issue at my friend's place and that buying a UPS to isolate that from my computer will fix the issue.

Thoughts?

Yeah, I suspect the same thing. Are they getting full voltage to the outlet you are using? Or are you using a power strip?

Tried both a power strip and directly in the outlet and multiple outlets around the apartment, same thing. Don't have a meter to check the voltages with.

Definately sounds like an electrical issue at the house. I would have someone check the voltage to see what they are getting.

fix the problem. either cheap receptacles or likely loose connection some where. serious issue. fix it. UPS, i have it. thats not the answer if it falls into your category. Or faulty breaker.

Doesn't happen to my friend's electronics (XBox, TV, laptop) so I'm assuming that the UPS will fix the problem unless you give me a good reason otherwise :/
