computer giving blank screen

hey guys i turned on my monitor today and found that my screen is blank white. i always keep my computer on and only turning or restarting my computer when needed and i just turn off my monitor. However now my computer wont respond. i have restarted my computer several times and it always just goes straight to a blank white screen but i do hear the opening sound of windows xp....so can anyone tell me wats wrong? virus? monitor dead?
 
seems the moniter is dead. try compleatly unpluging it and leave it for a hr. also check you connection. And lastly see if you hit the menue button if anything pops up

Make sure that the GFX isn't overheating, then try the tip Brian said. It really sounds like an dying LCD. CRT, not likely, as white is not one of the specified color gun included in the monitor. LCD, the display board is probably dying/dead.
 
i tried unplugging the monitor and after i plug it back in i still get a blank white screen, i also plugged the monitor into my laptop and still i get white screen so wats going on? do i need to get a new monitor?
