Computer Help (need to make it faster)

Hi there, I am more less of a noob when it comes to computers... all I can do is put some basic stuff together... and that is about it... well I would like your help to make my computer a faster computer, I more or less use this computer for everything but mostly gameing... so here are the details on my computer...

Motherboard - Intel D845GRG - http://www.neoseeker.com/Hardware/Products/Intel_D845GRG/

Ram - Two 512 DDR PC2100 (266MHz) (So overall 1GB of ram, i have noticed that the computer supports 2Gb of ram but i was not able to find 1GB ram sticks...)
Graphic Card - Geforce 4 mx440 128mb
Processor - P4 2.6GHz

Yea I know it sucks... but if any of you guys could give me a hand with making this PC faster, and I am also not willing to spend too much money... as I am still 18 and not making too much money...

If you would be kind enough to help me get some stuff together from

I am mostly looking for a decent motherboard and a graphic card... also if someone could suggest a good sound card for my system would help...

Just keep in mind I can’t spend too much on this...
 
well, you could try to find two RAM Modules of 1G each so that you would have 2GB of RAM. you could also buy a faster HardDisk that consists of 16MB of Cache, or you could even use and SATA HardDisk if you motherboard supports it. you can also try to find a faster motherboard that consists of 800FSB, but probably your motherboard already supports it, but check anyways :)

i think thats about it, i'm sure that there are other people out there that can add to my oppinion

FSB is front side bus
for example in my CPU it's set to 133
and i have locked multiplier which is 21
which gives me 21*133=2793 approx 2800 Mhz which is my current CPU clock
so if i want to overclock it
i go to the BIOS and change the FSB value to a higher value
for example 166
so it's now 21*166=3486 Mhz
but that's alot
you might wanna use a lower value
and take care of your temp
 
mostly for gaming you say?? your computer would be fine more or less if you just uprading the video card. Give us your budget and we will see what we can do.

a budget eh... well i'd say about 200-300 or would be willing to spend more of the stuff is worth the $$ :)
 
You could get a Pentium D 805, which I hear is an amazing overclocker. With water cooling you can get it up to 4.x ghz. And its only about 140$ at newegg.

Then you could get a 7600 GT.

With the final price around 300 after S & H, you could go for a RAM upgrade if you really wanted to. But the above is good if you are willing to OC the processor. It gets high on stock cooling so you don't need an aftermarket fan or water cooling.

haha i was reading your thread and was thinking to my self wth.. lol :P

anyways thanks for those links mrbagrat but newegg just dosent seem to be working for me as they dont ship to CAD or i dident check properly... but well i got an better idea of what i should be going for.. :cool:

yes you are right they do... which is why i had asked to suggest parts from them to me as i have delt with them before... :cool:
