I am a single dad with very limited funds. my daughter was hoping to get a computer for Christmas. Anyway I scrounge as a hobby (and find all kinds of stuff) I found this computer and monitor and thought perfect I've got the present she is she's wanting but when I went to plug in the computer I got nothing the monitor works great so I took the side off the computer and it looks like it might just be disconnected in spots from the previous owner. I pride myself and fixing stuff but this has got me stumped so I'm reaching out to computer experts in a desperate attempt to try to fix it myself because I cannot afford to have it fixed. the name of the computer is model: emachines T2984 and the S/NO: XAT4920012284. I took some pictures of the wire that is disconnected inside of it. I dunno it's getting power because I tested it with my meter and I could see lights lighting up on the inside but I noticed three wires that come off the power button in the front seem to be disconnected and I cannot for the life of me find out where they go connected to. it does not appear like anything has been removed from the computer just some wires disconnected. please guys I'm begging you can you please help me with this and tell me where they go connected or maybe why it won't turn on I just got a good feeling this computer is alright its just been disconnected. Please please please guys help me with this! Oh the three wires that seem to be disconnected are H.D.D. LED, POWER SW, POWER LED.

The power switch leads need to be connected in order for the pc to turn on. Without getting a better picture of the mobo, hard to tell you where to connect them. Can help you better when I get home though.

Thanks John I hope you can help. I post all the pictures I took maybe you can zoom up or blow them up to see them better but again for the life of me I cannot find any connections spots for these I just must not be looking in the right spot. you would think they would be in the distance of the wire. anyway here's more pictures.

Multiple Threads on the same issue at hand only lead to confusion. You can upload images to imageshack or photobucket and link them here in this Thread.

This is a picture of that model's MotherBoard. Look for a similar cluster of posts (two rows, 4 on one side, 5 on the other) on the Board and connect as shown.

We can't zoom in on the picture to get more detail, as the photos you uploaded are small and blurry as is. Generally the connector that imsati posted is found on the bottom of the motherboard, sometimes the bottom right.

Thanks for the help guys. I pulled those wires in like the diagram shows and still nothing so took it to computer advance and talk them into running a free diagnostic they found a fault in the power supply and sold me one for 30 bucks so I'm going to put it on tonight let's keep our fingers crossed I'll let you know how it turns out. I did still need to find out where those wires went though thanks for the advice guys.

Did you connect those wires? Even if you replace the power supply, if those aren't connected it still won't work.
