I am completely computer illiterate...I have an hp pavillion and it powers up but doesn't show anything on the monitor...the monitor is good though. I have been told to check the video card, but the video card isn't separate from the mother board. What is my best bet on this?

how long have you had the computer? the video card could have died on you if its been awhile, I would suggest if you dont know much about computers, other then trying to fix it yourself call up some local computer repair places, and get a quote from them on how much it would cost for them to test you system, after they give you a quote come back to us and we'll tell you if they're overcharging and if you need to look else where for someone to test it. good luck
