1) slowdown is caused by virus, trojan, files cluttering hd, broken software/hardware, and about anything you can think of.
2) download or get someone to download for you microsoft anti-spyware, and an anti-virus program, eg. symantec antivirus, and check for problems
3) run disk degfragmenter on start>>control panel>>system tools
4) run checkdisk, scan drive for errors.
5) plenty more, am sure people can add to this....

well first of all we need to no ur system specs and as seeing as u dont really know how to make ur comp faster (no offense) just go to ur device manager, control panel-->system-->hardware tab-->device manager and there should be a list of all ur specs just give us the basic hardrive space, video card, processor speed, ram amount, and usually the cheap easy solution is getting more ram and a video card (a vid card sorta acts as a new cpu but it only works with "video" stuff

Do you use IE.(internet explorer) Well if you do theres your first problem, get firefox or something. Then get adawer(SP?) se, to check for spyware. Then get norton or ave, and scan for viruses. then like they said disk defragment and such. And have you considered more ram, new vid card, and even overclocking.

IE and defragging is all nice and all but they dont constitute that big of a problem. As noted, we're gonna need more info first

download spybot search and destroy, and adaware personal se from www.majorgeeks.com

99% chance you have lots of spyware on your computer. That is the biggest thing to slow computers down nowadays.

You can prolly kill
C:\PVSW\Bin\W3dbsmgr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe

As for the original problem, you said it "got really slow", are you doing the same things as before (i.e., it is a 600MHz proc afterall)
