Hey, my computer keeps beeping everytime i do something that's processor intensitive... It seems as tho when I adjust the "Warning levels" for what degree in my bios the computer should warn me at, (which I have now set to 80) it doesn't do it as much.... But, I still seem to get the same BEEP BEEP and it justs goes on and on... I find this very annoying and really don't think anything is wrong with my computer.... Its a gigabyte ds3 with a core2duo 6400 and artic cooling... I do live in florida so it does get a bit hott...

But, I just want to basically turn this ****ing thing off! if anyone knows how to do that, please help me!

Thank you,

-David

Just out of curiosity, what are your temperatures when you hear this beeping? I know you have a threshold for the warning, but if it's any higher than that then I'd be a tad worried. Best program to use for the C2D's is TAT for the core temps, and external temps use PC Wizard 2007.

If your PC is beeping, it's for a reason. You shouldn't try and stop it by disabling safety features, you should really be trying to resolve it to stop any damage from occuring.

Breaks.

hmmmm

My temps stay around 60-63 degrees when upon bootup of the pc when I go into bios... I'm sure this number changes when the computer is actually running tasks.... I will check out these programs you mentioned... I just wish I could find the crux of the problem and stop wondering what it is... I may have bad ram, I'm not sure, and wouldn't know how to check any of this stuff....

okay...

so i just checked the temperature with "TAT" it is showing up as running (while the computer is on) at 55 degrees on cpu 0 and 51 on cpu 1...

These temperatures don't seem high, so it must be a different problem....

If you google the type of BIOS you have and beep codes, then hopefully that will give you an indication of what is going on.

I just noticed you had the same motherboard as me. I had a similar problem when I first built my machine. Go into your BIOS upon next boot and disable the following: CPU Fan Fail Warning, System Fan Fail Warning (note: in doing this, you must make sure you keep an eye on your temps in the future as you will have no mobo sound warning before hand). Save changes and then restart. Also, although it might be a tad nosier however more beneficial in the long run, make sure your heatsync fan is running at max, and not on auto adjust. Do you still get the same beeps?

Might sound like a silly suggestion but it's how I sorted mine out. It appeared that my computer thought my CPU Fan was failing as it was set to auto adjust, and of course with C2D the CPU Fans don't always fire up immediately upon boot, they can kick in a few seconds late as they activate when the CPU hits a certain temp.

Breaks, thank you for your posts, funnily enough, it was the actual cpu fan... After I wrote that post, i checked the program you gave me again and after testing my computer running at 100 percent, it was at 83 degrees!!!

So, I had the special "artic cooling freezer" installed in there, and I think when I pushed it into my motherboard, it didn't quite fit right and has never since. Neways, I went back to the old original fan supplyed by the intel motherboard and its now down to 40 degrees and 54 on 100 percent!

Thanks again tho, for six months i've been living with this sound and its been a sonofabitch!

Glad to hear you have it sorted mate. It's always best to check the most obvious things in these sorts of situations as the computer will not beep for no apparent reason. Jesus that's a high temp for your CPU to hit. Note for the future, when applying thermal paste, never put too much on, too much is a bad idea as it will actually render it more useless than useful. What heatsync did you buy to replace the intel's standard one that was giving you the heat issues?

i am using the standard one.... Its intel's standard heatsink...

it was the artic cooling that was bad and wasn't working correctly
