]Please help, I got a new sound card put in my computer and since that time, my computer restarts for no apparent reason and out of the blue..and it gets to a certain point in boot up and then it restarts again, then an error saying something like fsb/something ram has been changed, please go to startup menu by hitting del and reset it, then the safe mode option page comes up, it then sometimes goes to windows, but most times I have to unplug all my accessories and then restart the computer myself and plug everything back in and no I do not have a virus..it's been checked..I would like to know how to fix this problem though...thanks

It looks like it might be what the computer says it is, that the FSB or RAM speed was changed. I would change those back, reset the bios, see if it helps

Welcome!

1. Start computer
2. Press Delete or F1 or whatever it takes to get to BIOS/Setup/Configuration
3. Look for an option to "Load Defaults" or "Load Failsafe Settings"

You could also try installing the soundcard in a different PCI slot as well :)

Thank you for your help..I had to move the card..guess for some reason it wasn't being accepted in the slot it was put in..just glad I have my comp back to some normality...thanks again..Christina

Sounds very much like an IRQ conflict. Many sound cards use two and some even three IRQs (your computer has only up to 15 to start with and many are already tied up). For most motherboards, PCI3 usually has the most IRQs available to it. Glad you got it working :)
