Computer Loading Problems

Computer:
Motherboard: Gigabyte M61SME-S2
CPU: AMD Athlon X2 4000+ AM2
RAM: DDR2 2*1024MBytes 667mhz
HardDrive: 160GB SATAII 7200RPM
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit ~Lite
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT 256MBytes 16X PCI-E
BIOS: Award Bios

Problem:
After building this new PC, installing vista (used vista lite software to remove unwanted components) and drivers etc my computer has ran great except for an annoying problem...

The computer seems to load the hardware fine when turning on the PC but when it loads Vista it will freeze while loading (The green lines will stop) evertime. When I restart the computer however Vista will load perfectly fine.

Also sometimes when I restarted it after it froze, the motherboard would send off beeping codes which would either be 3 Beeps then works or Continuous Beeps then I had to manually restart it, and then it doesnt happen again.

I'm convinced it's my harddrive because it used to be in my old XP machine as a second hardrive to store files. The hardrive went crazy and all the files started mixing together yes mixing together (Video Files would start load audio files from games on that hardrive) and some would no longer work.

I formatted that harddrive on this machine, and all works except for that issue.

I'm confused as to what this problem is, any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. ThaNKS

Failing memory. Everying fits in, freezes, beeps, continuous beeps.

Never underestimate hard drives. My rig right now : Sempron 2600+, 20GB HDD

And that HDD my dad bought way back in the 90's for his 166MHz 96MB computer. Right now it's faster than my 80GB, 120, and 160.

I might run a memory diagnostic test just to check it out, I'll also check to see if the ram is in place properly.

Thanks

Nothing wrong with the RAM at alll, I'll check the plugs on the motherboard, may have put them on wrong.

I would assume it is the Hard Drive. Considering the you had problems in the past that is one sign that the Hard Drive isn't going to last wrong, and probably isn't functioning properly. Hopefully you have a PSU over 300w so it is getting enough power to everything. Try sticking in a old HDD and see what happens.

HDD failure (like unplugging it) would freeze, not restart it. And it would not make beeps at turning on. Freeze at POST? Yes.

I dunno whats been happening lately, ever since I been experiencing with overclocking, hasn't done it since :S
