computer loads to desktop but a black screen after windows icon

like the cursor says loading and i cant usually shut it off during that time the screen kinda blinks im not really sure what my video cards doing so does anyone have any advise

Usually means your resolution is set too high or a driver issue. Boot to safe mode and lower your screen resolution.
