I put together a PC in August and up until a few hours ago it was all good.
The first strike was during a game of quake live when my screen turned into a grid with alternating squares of what the game was showing and random symbols on black background. I was still in the game and wrote that I need to restart badly. I followed by ALT+CTRL+DEL to prompt for a shutdown. The pc froze so after a while >1h, I forced a reset. I was able to load windows several times. On first reboot I got as far as loading up mksvir on IE (as I have Avast which I scanned my pc a few days ago) before my pc froze. A shorter wait, another reboot but now in safe mode, started an avast full scan and computer froze. Waited, restarted and it froze 1 or 2 min into avast scan. After 5-7 reboots the file checking initiated by itself, then a spontaneous reset, followed by boot failure. Tried to go into bios, as advised by a screen I pressed DEL, the computer froze and reset itself. Now my pc is restarting before win starts to even load and as a last resort I put in my win7 cd. Cant revert to last known config as no hdd is visible. Running win mem diag tool atm and that is the only thing going well.
My PC:
- CPU: Intel Core i3 2.93GHz @ 4.00GHz
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard
- RAM: Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
- Cooler: Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev2 CPU cooler
- Graphics: Gainward ATi Radeon HD4870 512MB DDR5 Golden Sample Graphic Card
- HDD: Samsung SpinPoint F2 EcoGreen 1.5TB Sata II 32MB Cache
was running WINDOWS 7 ultimate 32-bit edition.
Is it my HDD? Is it fried ? What do I do and how can I check what's wrong ?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
