computer not displaying

so am trying to get a pc up and running, but apparently it boots up fine,no beep codes or whatsoever but displays nothing.
is it the cpu ? cause there seems to be no, urrm, what do u call this thing ? thermal paste ? yeah that thing,seems it has dried up both under the heatsink and the cpu itself.
i bought a new ram so it's not a ram issue.

any ideas ? :confused:

you mean a pci one ? no i don't have one, but i'll check around

edit : ok got one, but still no display.
from google it says that thermal paste needs to be applied to draw heat away but the cpu has one..wtf ?
have to check the stores if we have this

I seriously doubt its a CPU issue, sounds more like a display issue with your graphics, or BIOS

As for applying thermal paste, make sure to apply it on the back of the CPU, you have to smear it flat in order to get the full effect.

I tried a pci display adapter and it didn't work, according to you if there's no display how do i get in the BIOS ?

the pci adapter is good it worked in my dell

see the problem with you Brian is that you rush though a thread, it's not ram, cause there would have been beep codes, and the ram is new too.
and it's not the video cause i tried another graphic source, i don't think it's the mobo though but thanks anyways
 
well i did have a comp once that the ram was not in correctly but no beeps... altho it was a laptop so i dont know if they have beepers :P
 
Question. Has this computer ever ran before? Or is it new?

Once I had a similar problem with my old computer, one day it just stopped displaying. I removed the video card, blew it out with a light compressor to remove build up and reinserted. This worked fine. Although this fix would probably only work with an old computer. : )

Theres the battery and the jumper reset way.

Re-check your hardware on your motherboard
 
Are you plugged into the onboard video? If you aren't, try it. If it works, install the drivers for the new video card.
If it's not that, then try to borrow someone elses monitor, and try that. If it works, then you have to install the drivers for your monitor.
