Computer not turning on

I have a Compaq Presario M2000 laptop and it suddenly shut off and now it won't turn on. When you press the power switch, nothing happens. It was working fine and then suddenly just turned off. I tried taking out the battery and replacing it to see if that would make it work but it didn't. The battery wasn't dead or anything like that because it doesn't turn on even when it's plugged into the wall. Also, when it's plugged in, the charging light no longer turns on.

I don't know much about laptops so I have never seen this before or know what it could be. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be and how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

take out the battery and see if the laptop will run solely on the ac adapter. then try just using the battery. the battery should have a power meter on it if you look at it. see if there is still any charge.
 
I tried taking out the battery and plugging it in to see if it would turn on. It was no different. I took out the battery and replaced it as well to see if that would fix it which it didnt. The battery doesn't seem like it has any power meter on it. I just looked.
 
heres a preliminary conclusion.

the ac adapter died sometime during the period where the laptop was on. therefore the battery kicked in. after that drained there is no longer any source of power. if possible go to a retailer or computer shop and use one of their adapters to confirm that it is a bad adapter.
 
Frm how long was the laptop working b4 it shut off suddenly.

here r some suggestions
1. do u use a surge protector to power ur laptop. if it suddenly shut off, it may have burned due high fluctuation in the power supply.

2. the neasest possible problem is RAM, open the RAM compartment under ur laptop n check is the ram is well placed in it slot, remove it n place it again just to make sure.

3. relace the RAM with some other module of same parameter, loan it frm ur friend.

4. if that doesnt ur laptop work, then there is some problem should be solved by a professional.
