I have absolutely no experience with computer hardware and its issues... however my computer was working fine till today. when the computer boots, a sequence of beeps occur, a long beep and two short beeps. please help!

That is an error code... For this to mean anything, what is your computer details? What BIOS? Motherboard? Proc? Basically it means something is really wrong...

First thing to check, make sure your CPU, RAM, and Expansion cards are securly seated. That is a common cause. Other causes could be Bad CPU, RAM, Mobo, Etc...

Did you make any changes before this happened? What was the last thing you did when the computer was still working?

well i looked it up on the internet, it says its a "display adapter problem (mda, cga)" what can i do to fix this problem?

my motherboard is P4ITA, award BIOS, using ATI rage pro 128

PCI, i've switched it with an old mach 64 and now it works fine, but what could make the video card stop working? i had switched it into a different computer (the rage pro) before, would that fry the card?

Was it seated properly in teh new computer when you put it in? If it wasn't connected well that could also cause this.
