well, i'm a little computer illiterate, so work with me please.

well...everytime i log on to my computer, a dialog box pops up...i think it says explorer.exe. so, everytime i click ok, or cancel, or X out, a bunch of more of the same boxes pop up. so i keep clicking ok, or whatever. and eventually they all go away. but then my background takes up my whole screen, and i have no taskbar or icons. i can't click on anything...and i keep on trying to reboot, but it never works. i'm on another computer now, but i can't get that one to work. please help me if you know anything. thanks!

there is no icons or start menu bar or anything right? just ur wallpaper? what os do u have running on the computer with the problem?

have u tried restarting in safe mode? if u didn't install anything important and if u have xp, u can try system restore to a previous one that worked.

Ouch! That's awful. The same thing happened to me. Both of my computers. Maybe not with the boxes, but overall, yes. And is still somewhat happening. At times, you can just wait for about twenty mins. but that is probably not the only problen, and I think that's only with Windows XP. If it's Windows ME, 2000, 98, or 95, you could use a boot disk. If you do not already have one, go to www.bootdisk.com and download the one for your computer, and put it on a disk. Put the disk in your computer, and boot it. You should end up at a screen that asks you to type somthing. Type in: regscan \restore . that will bring up a window to restore the windows registry to an earlyer date.choose one from around the time your computer was working. It will tell yu to reboot your computer. Turn it off, take the disk out, and turn it on. Now you should be able to start. If you still can't boot your computer, I suggest you contact Microsoft because you might have damaged windows software. Ad by the way, you can't use System Restore when you can't boot the computer. You could also try starting the computer in safe-mode. For Windows XP, press F8 at the screen with:
Microsoft Windows XP Pro/Home
Microsoft Windows Recovery Consel

For Windows Systems that aren't Windows XP, hold the control (ctrl) button until the screen with different ways to start the computer.

NOTE: This is only if you are using Microsoft Windows. If it's Macintosh, I have somthing big against Macs, so dpn't ask me for help. If Linux, the second best, next to windows, I don't know because I don't have Linux installed on my computer. Hope your computer starts!
