Hi I have a hp pavillion pc bought from the shop, it worked fine then one morning has decided not to do anything it's a simple case of lights on but no bodys home.

The power supply lights up and when I press on button the CPU and cooler fan spin but then stop and other than that nothing, nothing on screen just sits there so I have to hold power button down to turn off.

I have tried so far
Removing CMOS battery and putting back in
Remove ram different combinations
Unplug cd drive and memory card modules and tried to boot with only hard drive, ram and other bits left.
From what I can see there is no graphics card plugged in so I assume only has the built in module.

Any ideas??

I have read the guide and I don't get any beeps at all, I haven't tried a new power supply as I don't have access to one but on the power supply there is a light which comes on when plugged in to indicate power and that
Is fine.

When you removed the cmos battery did you unplug the power supply and did you also leave it out for about 5 minutes? The proper procedure for clearing the cmos is this.

1. unplug the power supply
2. remove the cmos battery
3. press the power button on the case a few times to discharge any remaining power.
4. wait 5 minutes before reinserting battery and power cable.

Did you get a warranty with this machine? If so, I would take it back and have them look at it.
