Computer Problem

Hey I bought a Wintergreen socket 478 barebone off of TigerDirect and i got a Celeron D 2.80 GHz Processor, a 120 GB Western Digital (Caviar Special Edition) Hard Drive, The only other thing i put into it was 512MB of PNY PC3200 RAM, which i have one more stick of it to put in. But Whenever i try to start up the computer, it turns on for a short period of time, maybe 10 sec., then shuts off. And depending on how recently its been on, the 10 seconds can change from 10 sec. - 0 sec. I dont have a cpu fan or heatsink, and im thinkin thats the problem, if anyone thinks it could be something else please help me.....

umm wow, you definetely need a fan/heatsink on there, thats definetely your problem, and stop turning your pc on without one, before it decides to not work anymore..but yeah buy a fan and heatsink you can get them cheap...just anything...wow

Yeah, get a Heatsink on there pronto. Nowadays passive cooling (with the exception of a 6-inch tall heatsink skyscraper) is not possible. No cooling whatsoever, wasn't very possible in the past, much less present. By turning it on without cooling you risk damaging the CPU. Permanently.

Well it could always be multple problems but the most liekly one seems to be indeed that you need to have a heatsink on there....
