Computer problems

Hello guys.

I have a little problem I hope you can help me with.
I just bought a new videocard. When I start the computer -without connecting the monitor, it just starts to beep. And when I connect the monitor it stops beeping, but it freezes on the startup-screen where you can press ESC to enter startup menu etc. Pressing any buttons on the keyboard does not help.

Anyone know what's going on?

Like above. Plus is it hanging in the bios startup or windows startup? Not knowing, but did the video card have PCIe power connectors?
