Computer problems

Hey there everyone, been awhile since I've posted but here goes.

My computer was on last night when I went to sleep. In the middle of the night we had a power outage in my neighborhood, no big deal though, nothing out of the ordinary.

I wake up and try to turn on my computer, it turns on but it doesn't seem to boot up. Normally it makes a beeping notice which I'd assume is to show everything is in order, however I never hear it. My montier has "NO SIGNAL" displayed and the computer just runs without anything happening. This has happened in the past but has been remedied by just turning it off, and turning off the monitor and restarting both, or just coming back later and turning it on, however this time it is to no avail.

I have taken the computer apart, and removed the RAM, Video Card, HD, most CD drives, and replugged it all back in. Cleaned out all the dust too, however this did nothing, the computer still doesn't boot up.

I can't boot into safe mode or anything because....it doesn't boot up. Other than a hardware change which I'm not in a position to do, financially, what else can I do? The computer has been the same for the last 6 months with no hardware changes other than a CPU fan upgrade, but that was back in January and the computer hasn't had this type of problem since then. Well, it has, but each time I am able to get the computer on after a few tries.

I'm probably just going to leave it off for a day or so and try again later, but this time I feel like thats not going to help. Again I've removed the vid. card, RAM, etc. and put them all back in, but nothing.

I would hate to lose everything, but we will see..

Thanks.

I hate to say it but you may have a hard drive failure... My friend got his cooked during a power skip. Before you do anything concerning power, check to see if your monitor is plugged in to the card. Now if you have a spare hard drive, plug that, if it works then you have a hard drive failure. You can probably send it in to see if they can retrieve the files of the hard disk. I don't know if companys like Maxtor, Western Digital, Seagate, etc... Do that.
If they do, you bet it is going to cost money.

Well, if I lose the files, I'm not going to die over it, just takes time to reinstall all the programs, etc. I had, redownload everything etc.

I'd send it in, but again I'm tight financially and I'm sure it would cost a pretty penny.

I'm also leaning to it possibly being my power supply, maybe the connector to the video card got fried or something. If anything, I'm going to try another PSU I have in the house and see if that works.

I don't think its the HDD, however you could be right. The only reason I say this is I have had this occur multiple times in the past and have never had any problems with it. Who knows though..

Yes, all 7 case fans, the TT Tower fan, and Video Card fan all turn on, aswell as the lights on the Mobo, the On/off Power light, the front LED on my case, and the Blacklight in my case aswell.

Update: Found an old HDD (80GB) that I used to use, and it worked fine in an old PC I have, so I put it into my one having probems. Nothing. Same exact thing as when the other HDD is in the computer, so that cannot be the problem.

I was going to use the old PSU in the newer computer, but the pin cables are differant (a 20 vs. a 24 I believe), so I cannot check it.

That leaves the Video card, PSU, RAM, and CPU that could have a problem?
Well this really sucks, I really hope I can narrow this down to fix this problem ASAP.

None at all. I hear the HDD rev abit and the fans are all going, but no beeping.

Also, I tried plugging the HDD I have now into my old computer to see if that was the problem, but I couldn't get it to work. It would read it but it would take me to the Start Windows Normally, Last Known Config., Safe Mode, etc. screen and every option I choose it either freezes or just goes to a black screen. The computer will stay on, but won't load. Does that mean its the HDD thats corrupted?

If so, thats good and bad news I guess. Bad in that I lost all my files, but good in that I know what the problem is?

I don't know. And to think last night I thought about going in and turning if off before going to sleep, but I couldn't bring my lazy self to do it. Just great...

EDIT: I've also confirmed that the monitor is working 100%. So that leaves it to be the HDD, CPU, Video Card, RAM, or Motherboard...great...I really don't have the time or resources to figure it out. :(

Does anyone know if not being able to load the HDD on another computer would mean that it is the problem?

If it is, I can get a new HDD and be done with it, otherwise I'm going to have to take it to a computer specialist somewhere around here.
