Computer Randomly Freezing in all OSs

I recently built a computer that has been working fine for about a month. For some unknown reason, this week it started randomly freezing. It started out where it would freeze after 4 hours or so of use, and now it freezes within 2 or 3 minutes of boot up, or during the boot.

When I'm doing nothing in particular, the screen just freezes, and nothing moves. The HDD activity lights flash for about another 3 minutes and then they stop, and the only way to shut down the computer is by holding in the power button or shutting off the PSU.

Here's a little timeline of events in chronological order:
XP Works for a month.
XP Starts to freeze after a few hours of use.
I attempt to install Vista RC1 on another hard drive, but once I get it installed, it freezes within 2 minutes.
I put the XP hard drive back in, and it has started to freeze within 2 minutes.
I post here :D

I'm running:
Mobo: ASUS P5ND2-SLI
GPU: evga GeForce 7600 GS
CPU: PD 840
HDD: XP - WD SATA, Vista - IBM DeskStar IDE

Thanks,

http://www.memtest86.com/

try download this, and brun it on a CD, enter the CD during the boot of you'r pc,.. it tests the RAM of the pc, before it boots windows.
from what i see,... it could be memory corruption, and that program is the only way to find out if it actually is ( as far as i know ofcourse )

further.. is the Heatsink of the CPU still propperly in place? and it the heatsink clean? ( because it also could be the CPU overheating, and beeing shut down by the motherboard, and a Pc without CPU doesnt run particulairy well. :) )

My temperatures are perfectly fine. I use ASUS Ai Booster to monitor the temps, and the CPU temp is always around 40 degrees C.

I'll try that RAM test thing when I get home and tell you the results.

Thanks for your replies,

Well I ran the vista installation disk's memory test, and it came up with no problems at all. I'm basically going to disconnect all non-critical hardware and see if the problem goes away.

Well, when I disconnected my PCI Firewire/USB card, everything started working fine. It may freeze again, as I won't have my computer on all day until the weekends, so I'll know how long it can stay alive w/o freezing.

Thanks,
