Computer randomly getting a black screen?

Ever since a few days ago my computer has been getting a random black screen. I never really noticed this until today when it went off when I was using it. So I'm forced to manually restart the computer. Would this problem be my monitor, or could it be tied to my PC. The pc and monitor is probably 4-5 years old.

If you have to restart then its probably something to do with the PC. If the monitor is just turning off, it probably the monitor.

The computer will just go to a black screen randomly. Then I click the mouse and move it etc. and the screen stays black. So then I'm forced to turn it off and on again. What could the problem be with my pc. Is there any troubleshooting I can do. I doubt it's a virus etc., but any help is appreciate.
