Computer Randomly restarts during games

I wasnt sure what section to put this in but im sure this is a problem with my software. (if this is wrong let me know)

When im playing Battlefield 2, after about an hour of non-stop gameplay my computer will autmatically restart without warning or any signs. I will be playing and then all of a sudden CLICK, and its over.

Its very annoying because most BF2 games last an hour or more sometimes. I just wanna get a full game in!!!

Its been doing this scince i bought the game and i re-did the whole computer last nite and installed only the game and nothing else, it still does it but now 2 times out of 5 it gives me a blue screen with some error.

Does anyone have a clue why its doing this to me?

nope i checked those, as soon as it restarted i went into the BIOS/PC Health stats and it was normal (120*)

Then i used the Nvidia controls to check the GPU and it was 49*c something close to 90*f i think

but it didnt give me any warnings so i dont know what to think really. However i did recently install PC3200 PNY RAM into a board with a processor that runs at 333MHz

what is the blue screen error?
the main thing you need is down where it says technical information. it'll be a code something like 0x0000001e or something similar. usually you don't need to worry bout the numbers in the ()

write down that code, and any driver name or filename it gives you and do a google search on it

When theres an error of that sort, its most likely to be memory related. Dude (ModifierLE) make sure the memory is sufficient enough for the game your playing.

Maybe it is because the CPU is overlocked so much. Just a thought, because I know when I OC mine too much, the game freezes, then restarts too.

EDIT: overclocked*

make sure u dont have any extra processes running in the background...windows XP is very bloated so they include many processes that run in the background...my suggestion to you is to end ALL processes except those of the SYSTEM or NETWORK SERVICE processes...

My wife was having that problem playing Everquest until she found a way to reduce the display on the top & bottom, so it looks like a widescreen image. Less information for the video card to display.

Nice thanks guys.

-BF2 only requires 512MB of ram, i have 1GB.

-Its impossible for my computer to have a virus because i formatted and re-installed windows and the only thing i did after that was install BF2 thats it. No internet explorer usage.

-Im going to try to lower the CPU's speed a lil, if that fails i will give up until i finish building my 64 Bit athlon
