For some reason today my PC just started turning off and when it did it made my TV lose signal (cable) for a couple seconds. I turned it on and before it loaded Windows it shut off again. I took apart my PSU (400 watt generic) and cleaned it with air but it wasn't very dusty. Temps are fine, CPU at 25C case at 32C. Would this be the cause of a weak or faulty power supply?

are you definately sure that your cpu is at 25C, its seems very low considering your case temp is 32C?
i think you're just about getting away with your psu however it might be getting a bit erratic due to age or wear. try seeing if your computer is fine when it sits in the bios for a few minutes; while in there take a look at your temps just to double check and take a look at the voltages your system showing, if there are any fluctuations of excessively low values (especially on the 12V rail) then i would say the psu may be the problem.
if possible see if you can try another psu in your system to see if the problem is the psu or not

Hey, this sounds like the same problem I am having. Are you installing or loading software copying files, or running anitvirus or adaware when it cuts off?
Mine also cuts off when I try to play music. It wont even play a song without cutting off.
I haven't noticed about my tv signal. I'll see if mine does that.

First thing I would look at is to make sure that the power button or reset button on the case has not gotten jammed with something or it is sticking. Just barely bumping can turn it off if that is the case. You can put a surge suppesor in to make sure your computer isn't getting spiked by voltagle. If you have any type on tempreture monitoring in the BIOS you might want to look at them and verify that they are setup correctly. Last but not least you can always change out the power supply. Usually a faulty power supply or bad drivers will cause this. If it is not this stuff you might want to start looking at conflictions in software or hardware.
ok i had the same problem, what i did was after lots research on the net....
1. update your mobo drivers to the latest ones..
2. i changed my ram sticks to a different configuration...
3. upgrade every driver you need for your pc...
my pc has stopped crashing now!
did you get a message saying your pc has reciever from a serious error, then it gives a report about " blablablabla.dmp file?" and "system(something else).xls"??

I didn't get an error message of any kind. It just shuts down.
Do any of you think that a hard drive going bad could cause this problem? Because I donwnloaded "ASTRA32" and it showed the follwing screenshot about my hard drive.
(I forgot to circle it or something. On the right side about half way down, it says BAD HDD)

Yeah it's supposed to run all the time, your fan is shot, or your not getting power to it ( meaning the power supply is shot ). Mine has varible speed, but it always runs.. Stick another fan in it ( unless it's under warranty )... Thats what's shutting it down.. Most are 80MM fans..

Drivers is a biggy on WinXP SP2, if your driver are not fully Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher. You might run into some issues later On... Since you mention you TV signal ? I'm wondering do you have a TV Tunner card. If you do then check device manager - drivers for that particular card and see if they are Digitaly sign drivers. If not update driver!
Another trick for WinXP: Go to system properties - advanced - startup and recovery and remove the check to automatically restart..
