Computer randomly turning off

Lately my computer has been turning off randomly after a bit of use. I have checked all the power cords to make sure they're secure and they are, so I'm guessing something is overheating. Is there any way to fix this? Would it be a matter of simply dusting out the inside of the case and cleaning out the fan?
Thanks

yeah that would be a good idea, if you want to find out your temps to see if that is the issue you can download speedfan, when does this problem usually occur?

make sure that the cpu fan is turing properly. it could be that the dust is slowing down the fan. also make sure that you have past between the cpu and the heat sink, if you don't have, try adding some on and see how you do. Plus, i doubt that it's a RAM prob!

Thanks, it completely shuts down. It has been happening after its been on for a while which made me think it was overheating. I'll try dusting it out and see what happens

Yeah, dust will certainly cause that problem. Clean it out thoroughly and then leave the side of the case off so more air gets inside. See how it runs at that point. If it runs good, put the case back together and see how it runs.
