Computer Restarts Every 20 Minutes

I really need some help here. My computer is restarting every 20 minutes. Ive tried to look up a solution and havent been able to find anything. its not a virus because its a fresh install, its not overheating, ive updated the motherboard bios (its a GA-EP43-DS3), its not a ram problem, ive tried uninstalling the grpahics card driver and that didnt work so now i have no idea what to try next. It doesnt crash in safe mode though. Ive got until tomorrow to get this sorted.

I would say that the two most likely candidates would either be the PSU or overheating. Since you've already checked for overheating (did you check the GPU too?), this I would try the PSU next.

Is there anyway i can test to see if the PSU is whats causing the problems?

Try a different power supply is about all you can do right now. If another psu does the same thing then its possible that you have a overheating issue.

However, if it doesn't restart in safe mode it could be a driver issue or software issue. Try disabling all the programs in msconfig and reboot to see if it restarts.

The only real way to test it without special equipment is to just swap it out with another.

urgh i really do not want to take the psu out of my other computer so i guess ill need to go find a spare one somewhere.

Ill give that a go first and if it doesnt work ill try swapping out the psu. I really dont see how there can be a problem with the psu though. Its a good new psu.

A psu tester is only 5 or 10 bucks

Check your heat sync is on the cpu good and put new silver nitrate paste. Also check all your fan operations

This actually worked. I left it on for over an hour and it didnt restart.

But for some reason this computer is determined to be a pain in the ass. I moved it over to my dads house (i built this comp for my dad) and problems isntantly arose again. It still restarts but less frequently and it seems to only restart when im doing a lot of stuff.

Seems like an overheating issue then. You may want to disassemble the heatsink/fan and reapply thermal paste. You may want to try reenabling the items in msconfig one at a time to see if things change to find the culprit. Not sure what else to have you try. But it definately sounds like an overheating issue somewhere.

I have a new spare heatsink so ill replace the one im using atm with this new one tomorrow and see if that makes a difference.
