About every 10 to 20 minutes, it restarts. My error report says that I either need to download current drivers for my video card(which i have done) or to decrease hardware acceleration which i did and didn't fix it. I just bought the pc. HP pavilion media center AMD athlon x2 dual core. 2gigddr2 ram. It is a referbished model. Win xp. Any help? don't know much about pc's.

First off you need a Welcome to the Computer Forum! http://www.computerforum.com/70672-official-welcome-thread.html Please remember to review the http://www.computerforum.com/52038-forum-rules.html

Are you busy running any application or gaming when these system restarts are seen? Besides drivers being updated sometimes temps can play a role. One free program called SpeedFan seems to work on most systems. The latest 4.32 is found at http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

Besides system temps and incorrect video drivers board and sound drivers alike often have to be updated if you are not seeing a hardware problem. The term "refurbished" can also be referred to as "recycled" if problems were seen by the first owner who returned the system. Before assuming a failing hardware like cpu, vodeo card, memory, or even the board seeing problems one thing to look at would be a possible bad install of the updated drivers or some program recently installed now causing problems.

Download and install SpeedFan. Run it and tell us the temps it gives you and what they correspond to (example: core, temp 1, temp 2, etc.).

EDIT: Darn! You beat me to it, PC eye! =]

You have to look inside the paragraph and click on the SpeedFan name. It's kind of invisible to many until you get familiar with how some sites have links mixed in with the description. Where it says the latest version is "SpeedFan 4.32" the name there is the actual link for downloading the program.

Notice the link seen under the SpeedFan name next to the download popup message.
