I am on a toshiba labtop using windows 7. My yahoo account is sending out an email that is enfected, I have changed password maybe this will stop the emails, I will have to see. I am also getting theh dreaded blue screen of death, how can I clear this from my computer, any help really would be appreciated, tks

Yeah, yahoo and hotmail account passwords have been getting hacked and spam emails have been sent out. All that is needed is a password change and the emails will stop until your password gets hacked again. As far as the blue screen goes, we would need the error listed on the blue screen to help you figure it out.

Blue screen

Yeah, yahoo and hotmail account passwords have been getting hacked and spam emails have been sent out. All that is needed is a password change and the emails will stop until your password gets hacked again. As far as the blue screen goes, we would need the error listed on the blue screen to help you figure it out.

Thanks John, is there a report I can give you on the blue screen. The error is up for a few seconds and then restart the computer ???

When you turn on your computer, start pressing the F8 key to access the safe mode options. When they appear highlight disable automatic restart on error and hit enter. The machine will boot in to regular mode but when it blue screens, the machine doesn't reboot and allows you to view the information on the screen. Then all you do is press the reset button if your case has one or press and hold the power button until it turns off and turn it back on.

Hi John, I have seen the blue screen and have written message down.

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computere.
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, folow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing, If you need to use SAFE mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options , and then select safe mode.

Technical information:
STOP: 0x00000050 ( 0xb55AC000, 0x00000000, 0x82838CD3, 0x00000000)

John I have not installed any hardware or software, I have not BIOS memory, not sure how. Can you advise on the next step, any info on these technical codes, ??? Thanks for help

This error is usually caused by bad drivers, errors on the hard drive, or even a very bad infection.

Start by updating your drivers and then click on start and in the search box type Chkdsk /f /r. You may need to reboot the computer in order for the scan to start.

To scan your system for malware do the following.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here or here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. Please keep updating until it says you have the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

If for some reason Malwarebytes will not install or run please download and run Rkill.scr, Rkill.exe, or Rkill.com but DO NOT reboot the system and then try installing or running Malwarebytes. If Rkill (which is a black box) appears and then disappears right away or you get a message saying rkill is infected, keep trying to run rkill until it over powers the infection and temporarily kills it. Once a log appears on the screen, you can try running malwarebytes or downloading other programs.

Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces along with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log

Thank You John, I have updated all drivers - no updates were found. The 2 log files I am posting below.

No infections were found ? what would be the next step to locate the blue screen problem ?

The next step would be to run a memory test by downloading and running Memtest86.

http://www.memtest.org/download/4.20/memtest86+-4.20.iso.zip

Download the file, unzip it and use burning software to burn the iso file to a cd and then boot to the cd. The test will automatically run providing you have the bios set to boot to cd first. Let it run for a few hours. If any errors pop up then you have bad memory.

Have you ran a diagnostic on the hard drive yet?
