Computer Sharing...

Hey guys.

I just made a network for my house following windows direction, in hopes to share some music between computers.

Right before I finished, however, it said that if I continued anyone online could see and use what I was sharing. Well, for some reason I clicked continue anyways, and now im wishing I didnt, lol.

Is it really possible for people to do this? and how can turn off that network I created, and stop sharing and go back to how it was.

if its on the network then i dout anyone is going to see it because you are just sharing wiht the local machines. The only way that soemone is going to see your files is if they obtian your ip and hack your computer.. or if they connect to your network.. I wouldetn be that worried.
 
All I know is that I got that warning saying that I should share it this way (rofl, then why'd i do it)


Whats a system restore? If thats your way of saying reformatting, no thanks.
 
The guys above me.. dont know whats going on...

Here is the truth:

Do you CAT5 (ethernet cord) your computer to the router?
-This is safe (if you are not using the wireless function) No need to worry.

Do you have a wireless network, and is that how you connect?
-If you have a wireless network make sure the wep security is on, or you can simply make your shared folder a folder you need to map to... Basically it wont show up unless you type in the folder name.

If you have no security on, you should enable it.
 
that warning was just letting you know that all the pc's on the network you created can see what you are sharing, not the whole internet can now see all your stuff.
