Computer shutting down without warning

Im running Windows XP Pro 64bit
AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ CPU
2x 1GB Kingston DDR2 6400 RAM
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard
2x GeForce 8600GT Hooked up in SLI mode
1x WD 320GB SATA HDD (OS on this HDD)
1x WD 500GB SATA HDD
Coolmaster Case which initially had a 400W power supply, I replace this yesterday to a 650W power supply hoping this would fix my problem, no such luck unfortunately.

Ive had the computer for around 21 months the problem started the other week the computer shuts down while using it, its only done it once while Ive been playing a game, all the other times just your everyday stuff, surfing the web, msn etc, it just switches off like someone pulled the plug out, initially you could just hit the power button again and it would boot up, there would be no error messages of any sort from Microsoft on boot up or anything from BIOS.

Slowly the problem has been getting worse eg. more frequent and now it wont boot back up sometimes, you'll hit the power button the PC will boot up for maybe a second or two then shut down again, if you keep pressing the button the boot up time decreases each time.

Ive taken RAM, Graphics Cards, CPU, CPU Fan out, cleaned, put new heatsink compound on, taken motherboard out inspected that, monitored CPU temperatures, so I dont believe it to be an over heating issue.

Ive noticed a few things when this has been happening, sometimes the Num Lock light on my keyboard will stay on and Ive also notice Ive been having trouble with the LAN ports on the motherboard, this is a new development which only occured yesterday, they are either not working at all, or sometimes not working and the orange "activity" LED's are on, or some how you'll manage to get them to work, Ive uninstalled and reinstall driver for this etc does not seem to affect them.

Ive run a RAM testing software, RAM passed with flying colours. Ive scanned the PC for virus, malware, spyware etc nothing found.

I also have a HD TV card and wireless network card in the PCI slots of the motherboard, I don't see how these could affect the PC shutting down but then again I'm no expert.

Im beginning to think it might be the motherboard that has gone, im going to replace that today, but if anyone else has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated, if anymore information is required let me know.

Cheers,
Mat.

Well - It's not a software issue I can tell you that.
Try putting in another PSU. And if it does the same thing then it sounds like a circuit problem on the motherboard.

Also, see if anythings loose (Like the power button cable to the mobo or the PSU 24pin connector to the mobo etc..) Sometimes the connectors can get loose and when you play games it draws more power and then shutdown.

Thanks for the posts, it was a mobo issue, bought a new one the other day and computer hasnt played up since.
