computer shutting off by itself

Every once in a while (maybe once or twice a day) my computer will shut off by itself and you can hear a faint siren-like noise coming from the motherboard when it happens, and the power cable needs to be unplugged and plugged back in before it will turn back on. What is causing this? Anything I can do about it?

Because you have to unplug it to get it to restart, I would say it is the power supply. Overheating motherboard/CPU can definitely make a computer power down or restart, but I think the only time you have to physically disconnect the power is when there is a PSU problem. Most likely your PSU is either wearing out or being overworked.

Like I said, if it were the CPU or one of the mobo bridges over heating, I am almost positive that you would not have to manually disconnect the power supply in order to restart. I am confident that it is a PSU problem.

Its overheating. On my pc if the CPU gets above 90 then it powers off immediately and makes that noise. I have to switch it off at the wall for 10 seconds and switch it back on to get it to boot.
