Lately my computer hasn't been able to handle alot of applications. I have a Core 2 Duo E6700 with 2gb of ram. For example, I just scrolled up and down on this page rapidly for a few seconds, and my resource monitor showed that it is using 36% of both my CPUS. Alot, of the time Ill have a few things open, and try to open another and you hear an annoying windows noise and it just dissapears rigth after trying to open. Then I close one thing, and it works, but then it slowly requires more and more energy the longer I use it, and sooner or later I'm only able to open one application at a time. If I can't open an application, then means I can't right click as well. I currnelty cant right clcik on my computer when it doesn't have enough of these resources. Finally, one time it said I didn't have enough system resources. From what I have seen, my temperature of my system has been fine, and my setup shouldn't be having this issue.

Time for a good registry cleaning, drive defragmenation, and a use of the msconfig utility to disable a few startup items. A good freeware for regisstry cleanup good on Vista too is found at http://www.majorgeeks.com/RegCleaner_d460.html

So much stuff on the registry cleaner... I have no clue what to delete.
Free space for virtual memory is not a problem, since i have over 200+gb of space. I've already disabled a few startup items. I'm going to begin defragmenting today, but I believe that the problem is more direct, something bad installed or anything. I've had a dell for 5 years which I've installed so much stuff on, and got so many viruses and yet I never had any problem liek this.

Have any of you heard of a problem like... Once you close an application it stays in the processes, or if I launch an app when i can't handle anymore it still stays in the processes. I opened up the processes and I noticed many duplicates, some were 3 internet explorer processes which I'm completely sure weren't open.
The first thing to attend to here is understanding the RegCleaner and how to use it. You don't delete things on the main window unless you are intentionally looking for some specific item you plan to remove. It contains an automatic cleaner by going to the tools dropdown menu found on the explorer bar to choose the registry cleaner option. It's an effective tool for removing invalid entries and more or less leftover orphans an uninstaller leaves behind.
In the processes listing found in the task manager it is normal to see some items listed more then once. The svchost,exe process is normally seen five times there. Any more then the 5 total usually points to a specific malware having found it's way onto the system. A bad install of a program? That plus the clutter seen in the registry over a period time is the most reason for a system seeing a slowdowns. Use the CCleaner tool anyways for cleaning up the endless amount of temp folders created for installers. Those accumilate and stay hidden from view.
