Ok im after a desktop pc. Nothing to fancy, just something that will do for the time being. Ive got a budget of around £100 and ive been looking on ebay for sometime. Ive seen this on there http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=270375569378
What do you think? To be honest i dont really care abot the moniter and keyboard, but that looks like a pretty good deal to me. Ive also seen this tower as an alternative http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/POWERFULL-HP-...286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:2|65:16|39:1|240:1309
All i really care about is that the computer runs pretty fast, as the basic laptop i have isnt that good :D
Also, how easy are these two towers to mod? I may get a different graphics card in the near future. Thanks ppl

they'll do fine for basic things such as word processing, web surfing, etc. there would be no reason to upgrade either one of those with a new graphics card however. your best bet is to save some money, for about ~$400 you can do a build that'll outdo either one of those 10x over.

If i dont spend it now im sure the mrs would spend it 4 me :D Obviously id rather save and get something better, but do you think the prices are ok? cheers

for what you're getting the prices aren't bad. but i wouldn't pay a cent more.

but again, either one isn't worth upgrading

Ok cheers. Why would i not want to upgrade the graphics card then? because the computer is good enough to handle it?

yea putting it simply.

most likely neither one of those pc's has PCIe slots, which is today's standard for graphics card. they may not even have AGP slots which is an older technology for graphics cards. this leaves you with one option, PCI. and IMO there is no real reason to put a PCI graphics card in either one of those.

even if it some how did magically have a PCIe/AGP slot, the CPU, RAM and motherboard would all bottleneck the hell out of it.

So again, if you need the PC now, than that is your choice. but try to put some money away, and you can get parts yourself and put it together (which is far more cost efficient)

Cheers for the advice. I wouldnt have a clue on how to build a pc though... Can you buy them with all parts, ready to build, or do you have to buy all the parts indavidually? cheers

no prob.

yea you buy all the parts individually and than put it together yourself. this way you aren't overpaying for brand names or labor. it may seem daunting as first, but even a computer novice can do it. if you ever decide to do it, make a thread on this forum and people will recommend all the parts you will need. as far as putting it together, it's a lot easier than you think. and if you need help there are hundreds of guides online, plus we can help you here.

Ok mate, il keep that in mind. Cheers for the help once again. And mabye i speak to you again in the future. take care
