Computer start up / shutdown

I'll give it a go. If it doesn't work, do I need to transfer all my files to a seperate hard drive first?

Ok thanks. Could you recommend a good secondary hard drive. I would need about 300 gb of space on it.

Would now be a good time to upgrade to windows 8.1?

Well if you like the new 8.1 then go for it. If not, get windows 7. Get any Western Digital or Seagate drive.

RE 4 is high performance drive for servers/workstations. You really only need a caviar Black drive with 64mb cache and 5 year warranty.
