I am thinking of taking a computer course in Visual Basic programming, there are a lot of companies out there and I would be grateful for any advice.

Is it possible to get employment after doing one of these courses and can anyone recommend a decent firm to train with.

I heard that they have started Microsoft courses and if your a student with outstanding results they send you DIRECTLY to Microsoft to see if they can secure you a place in the company.

That'll be heaps cool to work with Microsoft. Think of all the cool computer gear that you get as well as the software. Silicon heavan. :)

Are you sure you want to take a course on Visual Basic? Although it's a great stepping stone for programming, it depends on what you want to program. If you're sure you want Visual Basic, Microsoft is pretty good. Many colleges use Java now instead of C++, so if you're looking for college credits, go with Java.

i took vB training in school...forgot everyhting lol.

now i use CBT Nuggets videos to train. they are expensive, so probably not best option, but from work they are free to use as long as i return them.

Well,in order to understand clearly Visual Basic, yes you should take a training course but if you only want to program in Visual Basic, only e-books could help. If you are not missing my point, let us compare to HTML using notepad and dreamweaver. If you really want to understand HTML, then you need to do hard code using notepad but if you want to simplify things and do shortcuts without profound understanding of each tags then you will go for dreamweaver.

Hmm ... for html i used to use notepad when i was learning
Not long later i turned to dreamweaver simply because it was easier
Now i forgot everything!
Dam, back to notepad again...
