I just built my first computer back in December. I've been getting some BSODs and my computer has been freezing a lot. I think it's either my ram is faulty/not compatible with my mobo, or my graphics card is bad my computer specs are:

XFX 680i TL mobo
XFX 8500 GT silent cooling 256mb
2 gigs of OCZ Platinum Rev 2 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz
Intel Core2 Duo E4500 2.2Ghz Socket 775 CPU

Help me Please.

What are the error codes you see when you get the BSOD? Having those would really give us something to work with.

First one = GFX Problem...

2nd one = Either OS SP problem or memory address problem..

Download and run Memtest86. After that, try another GFX.

GFX= video card.

It could be your graphics card drivers have become corrupted, or a stick of your ram could be bad.

Try uninstalling your video card drivers and download the newest drivers from the manufacture and reinstall the drivers.

Take out 1 stick of ram (if you have more than 1 that is) and try running your system. If you get another BSOD replace the stick you took out with remove the other stick.

ok well i just tried taking one ram stick out and it ran fine for a while when i was playing source*usually crashes fast* but i got to play for a bit untill i got another BSOD with the error code of 0x000000D1

That last error really leads me to believe you are having a problem with a driver. It could be your video card drivers.

Question, have you recently installed any new software, around the time you started having problems?

Take out the other stick of ram and install the first one you took out, run your system again to see if you have any more problems.

i haven't yet done the other stick. but the problem really started when i was done building the computer like i never did anything before i installed the graphics card mobo and my Ethernet adapter drivers. then i saw that after i installed my drivers. then i noticed that my video card driver was for vista so i went on the site and got the XP latest driver. but the BSODS really started once i started to use the computer

Ok so heres an update i switched the ram sticks and the computer ran smoothly. but then i put both of them back in and tried to test it again and my computer froze made the looping noise and then i had to restart it.
