Computer trouble

I am having trouble with my computer. I was playing BF2, then sat down to watch tv. I heard a crash and looked, my computer had fallen on its side (it was sitting on the floor). I went to pick it up and realized it had turned off. I tried to turn it back on, the fans turned and lights came on, then it shut itself off after about 6 seconds of that. I checked all the connections and they all seemed to be fine, but there are a lot of unused connections, so I am not sure if something got unplugged. Any idea what might be the problem?

From that description the board itself may have seen damage if no internal connections are undone. You will have to physically inspect the interior of the case to check those connections as well as look over the board for any signs of cracks. A number of things could have happened there.

i would make sure, as stated above, that your mobo did not sustain any physical damage. i would also check small things, like the ports, etc, that are soldered into the motherboard. on of those may have become disconnected, especially if it was loose already (there are usually a few that are loose on any given mobo).

Woohoo, I got it to work. I was messing around with it tonight, going through the manual, making sure all connections were there, etc, when I remembered what I had been doing when it fell over, playing battlefield 2. I thought, hmmm, maybe my cd is getting scratched up with it starting up on its side. So I turned it on hoping it would be able to stay on long enough to get the cd tray open, so I got it open and took the cd out, waiting for the computer to turn off. That is when I saw the Asus startup screen on the computer, and she started up fine. It had been the cd the whole time! I feel so dumb not thinking about it sooner, but I am just happy it is fixed. Thank you guys for your help. I really appreciate it.

I do have one question, when it started up I had the 2 7900's unplugged. It said the cards didnt have power and auto-lowered my performance. I said fine, turned off the computer, plugged them back in, and turned it back on. How do I know if it still isnt at a low performance setting?

if it doesnt say its on low perf mode, it most likely isnt. Try playing a game and see if you notice any difference.

When the cards were unplugged the board compensated by reducing to the basic acceleration levels. Once you reconnected the twins you be right back to the normally expected performance levels. If you had a benchmark with and without the cards running you could also see the difference there as well. Did you run any games or video while those were unplugged and see them stall? Try those to see if they run now that eveything is up and running.

For starters, what do you have in the box? Questions 101

How do I know if it still isnt at a low performance setting?
You dont get the message anymore ;) If that doesnt assure you, fire up something like Rivatuner and check the clockspeeds :)

Also, check that the fans and cards are still securely attatched: depending on the angle of impact and drop height, some of the components may be loosened = bad :)
