Hi first of all THANKS for helping me out.

K so i have this very old computer wich i have been upgrading for some time, i belive its around 5 years old or maybe more. so i upgraded the processor, ram, video card and audio. that was like 3 years now. this are the specs.
P4 2.40
1.25GB Ram
125MB Graphics
5.1 Audio

I want to upgrade but sadly i dont have alot of money so i can only upgrade the computer not the monitor or keyboard or mouse...
i like to play some games, i currently play WORLD OR WARCRAFT and im lost in it, i like to see movies here and listen to music.

So today i was on the hunt for a computer but WOW theres too much out there, i saw a NON- Brand computer (not dell or lenovo) it was quadcore 2.4 and it had 2 GB memory and 250 Harddrive with 256mb of graphics.

im not sure ir quad is too much for me.

should i buy a branded computer like DELL and such or should i buy unBranded.

and Quad or Core2Duo.

Could anybody recomend me a build.. like what kind of specs should i be looking for?

Thanks.. sorry for all the typos and the extra dumb info.

Alex:):):):)

I'm pretty sure you could use spellcheck for the typos... kinda ignorant...
but anyway I would suggest building your own pc, so that you save like 500$
Quad for lots of processes
Duo for not so many ( but cheaper for the clock speed )

You could buy all the parts and build one yourself it has many benifits and there are alot of guides on here that have step by step instruction on how to do it. how much are you looking to spend?

Yes, building your own computer would be best way to go, and Quad core, is also the best to go also. Don't get one just yet, I hear the Intel 45nm Pricedrop, is in 4 days time!

thanks for the quick response..

i can go under 1000 and probably under 700.. im still saving..

and do you have an idea of wich motherboard and how much ram should i get?

i went to newegg and wow theres too much to see:confused::confused:

Come back when you're ready to purchase. No point to tell you now as the hardware moving so fast...

For around $700 budget, Possibly something like
E7200
MSI P45 Neo-F/ Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L
2 x 1GB DDR2 800 RAM
8800GT 512MB
250GB HDD
DVD burner
500W PSU
case
Window Vista Premium

unbranded always has more upgrading potential, Dell etc... use nonstandard cases and motherboards. However, they are cheap and fine for most people

go for the core2duo. get the best one you can afford (more cache = good also)
2gb ram minimum.
If its a gaming rig, and it runs vista get 4gb.

one more thing.. if i had the 700 right now..

you say core2duo would be best?

and i was thinking of staying with XP? is this a good idea?

wheres the best place to buy the parts? im in the san Diego, California area.. or is it better online?

Thanks for all the responses. really really aprecciate it. :):):)

If you don't know much about computers you might as well computer already built. Duo Core will get you by with vista w/o any major probs.

Dude i would love a Build..

it would help me alot.

that way i can look for the specific items:D:D

also if you can .. could you do like a well.. mmhh low budget one and a good budget one.. like low $600 and good $1000..

doesnt matter if its not exact just aprox.. what you think it would cost..

if not.. then only one build will be SUPER GREAT lol .. hehehe TY dude :):):):);):cool:

lol too much of the little faces.:(

Well it depends what ur going to be doing. If you're doing gaming with a quad core on low profile games, it would be better just to get the Duo core and spend the extra money on games. Most games don't use more than 1 core, and a fast duo core is better than an average quad.
