Computer VERY loud on start up. Help!

Hi, I have had my computer for 1 year now. It got reformatted and installed windows 8 on it 5 months ago.

I haven't had any problems until 2 months ago. Every 2 of 3 times I turn my computer on it makes this really loud noise, it sounds like the fan hitting something or something vibrating a lot!

It starts off loud, then after a bit it goes deep. Then starts to go quite then goes to normal. I have no idea what it could be. It doesn't look like the fan is hitting anything when it makes the noise.

I appreciate any help :) thanks!

The fan could be off balance and and rubbing against part of the HS until it settles into a normal speed. As it speeds up, the force is probably stabilizing it. If possible, try looking at the fan with a flashlight as you turn it on to see if it's wobbling at all.

Do you get any resistance when trying to manually spin the fan?
A lot of them will get noisy if the bearings are starting to go/seize.

If you can find which fan it is specifically it should be a pretty direct replacement.

Your fan may be hitting something, or might just be spinning up to full speed before settling down to a slower RPM.

As everyone else has said check it's not hitting anything, potentially place it on your desk with the side off and see if anything is obstructing them. Get a screwdriver as well and check they are all secure as possible, it could be vibrations, but the noise you are describing doesn't sound like that.
