Computer went black when updating nvidia driver. What do I do?

I have an MSI notebook (about six years old i7 5500 processor). I wanted to install Capcut which is a basic video editor. The reviews of Capcut gave me no reason to worry about downloading. I installed the program, but on launch it said that my nvidia driver was outdated, and it had a link to nvidia's website with an update. I started it, and it got to 99% (during this process it indicated that it was removing the previous driver) before the screen went black, and nothing happened after this. I let it sit for about 30 minutes in case it was working in the background, but it never came back on. I shut the computer off and restarted. The MSI logo came on briefly, as it always did, but it just goes to a black screen.

I can and probably will take it to a computer shop, but thought it might be worth posting here to see if I could get any insight into possibly remedying the problem myself. Any thoughts would be welcome.

Did you set a restore point?

If so you can just restore to that point.

Also, check that the issue is not that the output has been changed to the hdmi output or something like that. usually there is a function key that allows you to select the monitor you want to use.

Maybe start in safe mode and see if you get a display there.
