Computer won't boot after installing SATA

Hi,

I have a Windows XP machine with a winfast motherboard and AMD processor.

There are currently 2 IDE drives installed. One running the OS and one used to store files.

I just tried to installed a 3rd drive (this one is a SATA).

When the machine is powered up, after the motherboard loading screen, I get a blank display, the hard drive activity light is flickering and the IDE drive (the one running the OS) does sound like it's doing something, but my screen is just blank.:(

Anyone have any idea what might be going on?

Does it still work when you disconnect the SATA drive? Could your boot order be site wrong? And how much is the light flickering? A good bit, or just on...off...on...off... :P

IF you were running the OS on the IDE drive and then plug in a SATA drive, I believe that the MOBO looks at the SATA drive for an OS. You may be able to define in the bios which drive TYPE or specifically which drive to boot from. I guarantee thatis the problem. ALSO you will need to load the SATA drivers for the motherboard.
