yeah so its had this problem for a while...if i dont have my ide cdrom hooked up when i start my computer it just wont boot itle go to the black bootup screen but it just wont do nuthing so does any body know why this is doing that

By "hooked up" do you mean in the PC, or with a CD in it?

If you mean in the PC, its probably a BIOS issue (eg CD told to be first boot, but cannot be found). That's easily fixed.

If it won't boot without a CD in it, then it sounds like the drives on the way out. You can pick up a new one for about £15 or $23.

EDIT: My 300th post!
